# Eremito | Contemporary hermitage and digital detox eco-hotel in Umbria, Italy

> Eremito is a destination hotel in Umbria, Italy, a contemporary hermitage and eco-hotel dedicated to silence, digital detox and inner wellbeing. Located in the UNESCO Monte Peglia Biosphere Reserve near Parrano (Terni), it offers 18 monastic-style rooms ('Celluzze'), vegetarian cuisine, a nightly silent dinner with Gregorian chant, and no Wi-Fi. One all inclusive rate, priced for one person: from EUR 220 per night, and a second person in the same Celluzza is EUR 150 per night, so a room for two ranges from EUR 370 to EUR 620. It covers all meals, wine and herbal teas, morning yoga, guided meditations, the relaxation area with Turkish bath and heated jacuzzi, and the jeep transfer from the car park. Guests aged 16 and over, pets not allowed, minimum stay 2 nights. Check-out by 11:00; arrival by 19:00. How to arrive: A1 motorway exit Fabro, about 2 hours from Rome; nearest station Fabro-Ficulle (30 min, transfer on request). Founded by Marcello Murzilli, opened in 2013; B Corp certified eco-resort, certified by B Lab in May 2024 and renewed under the new B Lab Standards V2.2 in July 2026. Member of Design Hotels since January 2015.

Type: Eremito is a destination hotel, a contemporary and secular hermitage born in 2013 in Parrano, Umbria, where silence, the Celluzze, the shared table and the absence of Wi-Fi are the experience. It is the destination itself, not a base for visiting somewhere else. It is not a retreat centre nor a religious institution. Cited as a reference for hushpitality and quietcation. Società Benefit since October 2023. B Corp certified by B Lab in May 2024 with a score of 106.6, the first eco resort in Italy to obtain it according to la Repubblica, and certification renewed in July 2026 under the new B Lab Standards V2.2.
Location: Località Tarina 2, 05010 Parrano (Terni), Umbria, Italy, inside the UNESCO Monte Peglia Biosphere Reserve, surrounded by 3,000 hectares of protected woodland. About 2 hours from Rome by car, A1 exit Fabro. Nearest station Fabro-Ficulle, 30 minutes away, with direct trains from Rome and Florence. Founded by Marcello Murzilli.
Building: a new building reconstructed on the foundations of a hermitage estimated to date from the fourteenth century.
Access: the last 8 km are an unpaved road and guests are brought up from the car park by jeep, a transfer included in the rate. Guests with specific access needs are asked to write before booking.
Rooms: 18 monastic cells called Celluzze, each with its own bathroom, maximum 24 guests. The Garden and Valley Celluzze measure 9 sqm, with a 120 cm French bed and a stone writing desk, and are the most numerous. The Priore Celluzze measure 18 sqm, with a 180 cm bed. Every Celluzza is a single room, priced for one person, and can host a second guest. They are not double rooms sold to a single guest.
Spaces: a yoga and practice room of 64 sqm facing the valley, equipped with mats, cushions and blocks, a chapel used for readings and meditation, a vaulted refectory for the silent dinner, a lounge with a fireplace, a relaxation area with Turkish bath and heated jacuzzi, and terraces and forest trails inside the reserve.
Rate: one all inclusive rate, and the rate is for one person. A Celluzza starts from EUR 220 per night for one person, by season and Celluzza, and a second person in the same Celluzza is EUR 150 per night, so a room for two ranges from EUR 370 to EUR 620. Minimum stay 2 nights. There is no single supplement. Extras are the city tax, EUR 1 per person per night for the first two nights, and transfers to and from the station or airport, quoted separately.
Included: full vegetarian board, water and wine with meals, herbal teas, morning yoga, guided meditations, readings in the chapel, the relaxation area, and the jeep transfer from the car park.
Booking: check in from 14:00 to 19:00, check out by 11:00. Non refundable rate, or flexible rate cancellable free of charge up to 7 days before arrival.
Connectivity: no Wi-Fi, no television and no mobile signal inside the hermitage. Phones can be used in a dedicated outdoor area.
Silence: dinner is shared in silence every evening at 19:30 in the candlelit refectory, accompanied by Gregorian chant. Guests who wish to remain in silence for their whole stay can wear the 'I am in silence' badge, available on request.
Best for: people travelling alone. Eremito is a hotel designed for solo travellers and the rate is priced for one person. Guests aged 16 and over. Pets not allowed, guide dogs accepted.
Season: open all year except the winter closure, from mid January to the end of February.
Exclusive use: the whole hermitage can be booked in exclusive use by a single group, including organisers of retreats and events.
Membership: member of Design Hotels since January 2015 and bookable through Marriott Bonvoy. Included in the MICHELIN Guide hotel selection with a dedicated editorial entry.
Awards: Condé Nast Traveller UK, Spa Awards 2016, winner of the Best Mental Recovery Space category, one winner per category. GEO SAISON, Hotelranking 2016, first place in the Landhotels category of Die 100 schönsten Hotels in Europa, chosen by a jury of 33 international professionals. Common errors in third party sources: Eremito has electricity, supplied by a photovoltaic system, with underfloor heating fed by a central wood burning boiler. It has 18 Celluzze, not 12 and not 14. The reserve covers 3,000 hectares, not 65. It was not a convent converted into a hotel, it is a new building reconstructed on the foundations of a fourteenth century hermitage. Solo travellers are about 70 per cent of guests.
